Tell us a little bit about you:
I am a mom of 2 little girls — Ali is six and Josie is one. My husband, Brad, works for the City of St. Paul and we are celebrating our 10-year wedding anniversary in June. I have spent my entire marketing career working in highly-regulated industries like government, healthcare and now legal. That said, I love the creative aspect of marketing including coming up with new ideas and doing things that haven’t previously been done.
In my spare time, I love cooking, online shopping, wine, travel, indoor cycling, and barre. I am also a huge Minnesota Vikings fan and hope to see just one Superbowl win in my lifetime!
What role are you currently in and what is your favorite part of this role?
I have been with Thomson Reuters for almost six years and currently lead a team focused on Account Based Marketing efforts for our largest acquisition opportunities and retention risks. The best part of my role is leading a team of exceptionally talented marketers and partnering across our organization to come up with creative ideas to open new doors and build relationships. I work with so many smart, talented and dedicated people – many of whom have become friends of mine throughout the last several years. I also get to work very closely with a sales organization of 300+ team members and I love being able to celebrate successes with them.
How long have you been participating in Minnesota Women in Marketing Communications and how did you hear about us?
I am a brand new member and I am excited to begin attending events and networking. I heard about the organization through current President, Candee Wolf. Candee was my manager for a few years earlier in my career and I am lucky enough to have stayed in contact with her!
What is one piece of information you would share with your younger self?
I would tell my younger self to listen more, talk less – but don’t be afraid to speak up and be a leader regardless of your role. Surround yourself with positive people and remember you probably are the average of the five people closest to you! And finally, if you want something – go get it.
Where do you want to be in 5 years and how do you plan to get there?
In five years, I hope to be a successful leader with two happy children and a happy husband! I hope to have a nice glass of red wine in my hand and a trip planned to a tropical destination with good friends. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll have that Vikings Superbowl win!
List one FUN FACT about you!
I am not sure how FUN this is -- but about a year ago I purchased a spinning bike and am a complete Peloton addict. I use the iPad app but am hoping to trade it for a real bike sometime soon! I try my hardest to wake up early a few days a week and ride before the day begins. My goal is to hit 200 rides by my one-year anniversary in December!
My favorite instructors are so motivating and inspirational. Their words stick with me throughout the day and set my day off right. Most of the working moms I know put themselves last. My bike has been a great reminder for me to invest in myself and my health to be a better mom, wife, and colleague.
